what's the
idea behind your dolls?
I didn't want to do this in an over the top way but I was definitely
working towards the obsessive culture of youth in America. Beauty
and youth at any cost.
red vines
or twizzlers?
Red Vines. There is a bit of a gamble at stake as far as freshness
goes (for either camp), but the twizzlers just taste like rubberized
plastic with red dye number 5 added for looks (the red vines aren't
that far from that either I know). The nutritional value and chemical
input is probably comparable in both no doubt, but Red Vines have
won me over.
what contemporary
artists are you inspired by?
All creatives great and small, that's the problem--it's all
so damn inspirational.
last piece
of art acquired?
A beautiful print (a collage of glass vases) by Brad
Trost.
tell the
audience what movie/book/album/website/tv show/magazine you
love that most people haven't seen/read/heard?
The
Freshest Kids--A history of the B boy on DVD. I have nothing
that novel in the realm of music that I can offer up. Cradle
to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things William McDonough
and Michael Braungart. Prate.com.
Shoot your Television. Res
magazine (not that indie or unheard of butÞ)
how did
you get to where you are now?
Never sleeping.
favorite
place in your town?
Mt. Tabor park at night.
favorite
place in the world?
My home studio.
i would
not be an artist if it were not for _________ ?
Let's substitute the words "an artist" with "creating crap" and
then I'd have to say, "I owe it all to my mom" (who left this world
way too soon).
