what's the idea behind your piece?
having fun in retro japanese countryside

what's your favorite thrift/antique/vintage store find?
there are many..... i collect these dolls and this one was a great find...


plus hundreds of books - here are a selection


what contemporary artists are you inspired by?
ashley snow, espo, lady pink, joseph cornell, florence broadhurst, marimekko, charles and ray eames, maurice sendak, leo lionni, bruno munari...

last piece of art acquired?
was given a screen-print by my friend misha hollenbach and a piece for my birthday by my brother-in-law rudin rashid

tell the audience what movie, book, album, website, tv show, and magazine you love that most people haven't seen/read/heard?
movie - my husbands second skateboard movie "blank vandals"

book - "the green tail mouse" and "frederick" both by leo lionni

website - No Fuss Editions

album - my music choice is generally courtesy of my husband who is the
record buyer of our household. my current favs on his playlist are
anything on stones throw, liz fields "by day, by night", and demo of
our friend mike squires (soon to be released on modular records)

tv show - "cooking with luis" on australian nick jr

magazine - nest - most people probably know it but took me a long time to read it and i am so glad i did.... also there is cute new australian fashion mag called frankie.

schooled or self taught artist?
both - studied textile design at RMIT and learnt macs myself

favorite place in your town?
restaurant ciccolina in st.kilda, botanic gardens in south yarra, melbourne museum and any place where there is architecture by robin boyd

favorite place in the world?
tokyo, new york, paris...

any advice you can pass onto aspiring artists/designers?
work hard and travel and be original and only do it if you have real passion
