KATEY NICOSIA - DALLAS, TX
"Untitled"

how did you hear about gocco?
I think I first heard of Gocco while reading a friend's blog. She had listed it as something she coveted, and I immediately bought one.

what do you like about gocco versus other mediums you work in?
I like how it forces me to think in a process. Where I usually create art on a whim, without a clear plan (collage works best this way, I've discovered), Gocco demands structure and preparation. It's a completely different way of creating for me, and I like that.

do you have any gocco tips/tricks?
Yeah. A few. Some lessons I've learned: Make sure your batteries are still good before you make a master screen or it won't come out right. And you must use the Gocco cleaner to clean the masters, nothing I've found works better. And don't use regular soap to wash your screen or it will disintegrate in your hands. And it's always good to have a few gocco pens around so you can make masters without a copy machine (you
can also use a dark-leaded pencil).

what does love mean to you?
Love means family, hearts, babies, cuddles, empathy, holding hands, and generosity. And sometimes it means my cat, Penny or even ice cream.

what contemporary artists are you inspired by?
Ariel Dolan, Walter Martin & Paloma Munoz, Rachell Sumpter, Megan Whitmarsh, and of course my dad Nic Nicosia, among many others.

tell the audience what movie, book, album, website, tv show, and magazine you love that most people haven't seen/read/heard?
Movie: Waiting for Guffman
Book: anything by Lorrie Moore
Album: the Footloose soundtrack (hee hee)
TV Show: Cash in the Attic
Magazine: ReadyMade

any advice you can pass onto aspiring artists/designers?
